How often as an Uber driver or Uber passenger do you receive/give tips? What do you account is the reason behind receiving or giving tips? Is there a magic secret?

I'm a driver in Charlotte. Tips are rare. The passengers blame it on Uber saying that there isn't a tip option when paying the fare. They also say that they don't have any cash on them. I find most don't even make an effort to make a tip. Those that do are generally in the service industry. I think I'm a decent driver. I have a 4.88 rating. When I first started driving for Uber, I made it a point to carry extra cash on me to make change. Now I don't even worry about it.

Unfortunately your partner, uber technologies tells riders there is no need to tip. Most uber x riders love that uber have given them the excuse not to shell out any more money.

Riders also believe you are making heaps because you get to keep 80% of the fare.

At $1 per mile i would not consider strating my car

I hear you. I'm a truck driver by trade. Uber was a curiosity to start. I only did it about one day a month. But alas, genetics have caught up with me and I'm being forced to "quit my day job". Out of that $1.10/mile, I have to pay all of my taxes, fuel, and maintenance. Now we're down to roughly, 50 cents/mi. Real Estate Agent is starting to sound pretty good. But it is nice to know that Uber is there. I won't be starving anytime soon. Real Estate Agent by day/ Uber Driver by night

I have a friend that just started driving a truck a few days ago. I think he's on his first run now. Do you mind if I ask what you mean when you say genetics have caught up with you? He's not a spring chicken and was worried it would be a tough lifestyle. Any thoughts are appreciated.

The way he's using it in a sentence suggests his age catching up to him.

Diabetes runs on both sides of my family. I got it 10 years ago and managed it. Recently I had to go on insulin, which is an automatic disqualification. There is a federal exemption program but it takes 180 days. I've been limbo with my company for 2 weeks. Don't know if they're going to terminate me.

Thanks. I was wondering if you were quitting because the long drives being too much. I didn't realize there were health guidelines. Maybe you can get disability benefits. It seems to me your situation should qualify if you are physically unable to work in your trained field of truck driving. Thank you for sharing. I hope things get better for you. UberX is not the answer, unless you have lots of surges in your market. Definitely investigate Uber Black.

you may need a DOT for black as I think you may need hire car authority or some such thing. Might pay to check with the authorities.

This has nothing to do with what you posted, but did you use to be on another forum, if so I would love to talk to you about why you left or what you think about it. Or if your still there, what you think about that forum

Oftentimes, when I drive for Uber, I rarely see a tip. I usually get tips on busy holidays, but earn way more in tips when driving for Lyft

Most of the riders have said that uber is a no cash zone and the TIP is included in fare! Haha

Travis KALA DICK is a piece of PUKE and needs to be leaned on big time , I tell new riders to tip in CASH $$$ they follow my instructions I don't work for free and neither should you, it surprises me when you pick up bartenders /waitpersons and they don't tip a dime and the Technies are beyond repair
